Yoga for Balance

Yoga for Balance is run by Ann-Marie Larkin, a talented and qualified yoga teacher who specialises in the Viniyoga approach. She says:

''Having practised yoga for 20 years, and taught hatha yoga for four years, I was excited to be exposed to an approach called Viniyoga.

"Viniyoga uses the breath as the guide, so all practitioners can work at their own pace and according to their own capabilities.

"Postures are done in particular sequences so that old body/mind tensions are not reinforced or new ones created and also so that maximum benefit can be derived from the pose.

"Postures are done dynamically, which helps make you stronger and more flexible and prepares the body and mind for holding postures which have a purifying effect on the energy system."

Vinigyoga has as its central text The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, which is a summary of 3,000 years of yogic knowledge.

Ann-Marie is starting two new series of classes in Greystones on Wednesday 14 September 2011. An early class will start at 6.30pm and Ann-Marie will also give a later class at 8.00pm.

The venue is as before, St Patrick's Recreation Centre at the north end of Church Road in Greystones.
